We spent the later half of March packing up Liberty Street and preparing for our move south to San Francisco. And no small feat might I add, as Sofia decided that this was the prime time to begin crawling. Pat and I moved ourselves one container at a time with Sofia rotating in the backpack.
Leaving our first home, was of course emotional, but once you remove your stuff a home starts to look like just a space. We spent our last night in Portland hanging out with great friends at the Kennedy School. We'll forever think of our Portland days with much fondness and Portland will always be Sofia's first home. As tough as it was to say goodbye we discovered that sweetness of Liberty Street all fit in our car: Sofia, Stella & Pat & I.
We took our time driving south, stopping off in Eugune for a night. We explored Pat's old stomping grounds and gave the girls a tour of their Papa's old campus. Sofia wasn't much in the mood for sleeping, between the move and teething. You know we hit the road early when we left the hotel saying prayers that Starbucks would be open! Anyhow with coffee in hand we headed out of Oregon into California! We spent the evening in Mendocino at a fabulous little cottage Pat found. We had our own lil deck and a great view of the ocean. The next morning we continued south on Hwy 1 to Marshalls where we stopped off at the Marshall General Store we eat the BEST bbq oysters. Yummy! From there we entered the city over the Golden Gate, listening to Tony Bennet sing "I left my Heart in San Francisco!" And yes, it feels great to be back home!
